Into the Puppet Depths
Former Iec Long Firecracker Factory
Free
Inspired by the natural surroundings outside the venue, this exhibition invites visitors to dive beneath the surface and enter an underwater world shaped by fish lanterns, puppetry, materials, and imagination.
Within this constantly changing environment, schools of fish move with the flow of water, while handmade fish created by visitors gradually join the installation, allowing the exhibition itself to grow through participation. Traditional Chinese puppet forms, including rod puppets and glove puppets, are also reimagined through new materials, enlarged scales, 3D modelling and printing, and contemporary making techniques.
Following a journey of dive, swim, transform, and resurface, the exhibition invites audiences not only to observe change, but to become part of it.
Water flows, life grows, and tradition never stops transforming.
