In support of the SAR Government’s efforts to promote tourism development and revitalize local commercial districts, four community organizations have launched a series of connected activities stretching from Rua da Praia do Manduco to the Barra District, leveraging civic collaboration to enhance the neighborhood’s leisure and tourism resources. This month’s events include the Barra Slow Living Festival, Roving Manduco – Street Life Festival, the STATION Mobile Cultural Tourism Hub, and the Hand-Brew Coffee Competition.

The “Barra Slow Living Festival,” organized by the Industry and Commerce Federation of Macau Central and Southern District, will be held from November 28 to 30 at the Navy Yard in the Barra District. For the first time, the event will introduce the UNFOLD Art & Design Fair from Shanghai, the Tokyo Coffee Festival by To Play Market, a Daytime Coffee Party, and a showcase of local brands. Bringing together nearly 150 stalls, the festival will feature coffee culture, creative crafts, seven visual art exhibitions, and more than ten talks and interactive experiences. As a place where Chinese and Western cultures meet and an important node along the Maritime Silk Road, the Barra District combines maritime heritage with industrial relics. By setting up the market both inside and outside the historic buildings, the event invites residents and visitors to experience the area’s unique historical atmosphere.
Organized by the Ha Van Fong Chong Neighborhood Mutual Aid Association, Roving Manduco – Street Life Festival has been taking place over four consecutive weekends since the beginning of the month across Rua da Praia do Manduco, Pátio da Claridade, and the Barra District. Through guided tours, theatrical performances, music, and market activities, the event connects streets, lanes, and local shops, bringing the district’s arcade architecture and traditional performance culture back to life. By creating an experience flow of seeing, playing, shopping, and staying, it helps stimulate the local economy. According to local businesses, weekend periods have seen clear increases in queues and repeat visitors, with food and beverage outlets as well as cultural and creative stalls performing particularly well, effectively boosting both foot traffic and spending.

The “STATION” Mobile Cultural Tourism Hub will be held from November 22 to 30 at Barra Square. Debuting a newly converted truck combined with a pop-up market and interactive missions, the event offers an experience where visitors can explore, play, and shop. By connecting online and offline activities through limited-edition IP merchandise and a digital stamp-collecting campaign, it aims to encourage visitors to stay longer during evenings and weekends, while boosting revenue for nearby businesses. The 10th ABrC Hand-Brew Coffee Championship Macau Regional Competition will take place on November 29 at the Barra Kitchen. Nearly 60 contestants are expected to participate, attracting coffee enthusiasts to attend and watch. Since its launch in 2015, the competition has promoted specialty coffee culture through a “100 Cities Linkage” model. This year marks the first time the professional event has been introduced into a historic neighborhood. Together with the Barra Slow Living Festival and STATION, it forms a connected district route, creating a cultural tourism platform that combines professional appeal with strong community participation.
These activities, through resource integration and district-wide collaboration, not only enrich the community tourism experience, but also promote cultural heritage and economic vitality, injecting new grassroots momentum into the historic neighborhood.
